Thompson Oliha, a member of Nigeria’s Nations Cup winning Super Eagles
squad of 1994 has died.
Oliha was also part of the team that represented Nigeria at the World Cup in USA in 1994.
Oliha who was until his death a coach at the Kwara State Football Academy in Ilorin died on Sunday morning.
The deceased was one of the coaches on duty when the Academy’ s team took on a Malian side.
He was however said to have complained of having feverish feelings. He slumped and passed on hours later
Thompson Oliha who played in the midfield started his professional career at Bendel Insurance in 1985.
He was also a member of the Flying Eagles that represented Nigeria at the U-20 World Cup in Chile in 1987.
He and Etim Esin were members of that squad that were invited into the senior national team shortly after.
Oliha becomes the third member of the famous ’94 Super Eagles to pass on within the last three years. Uche Okafor and Rashidi Yekini died earlier.
