This Chronic Infection Can Last For Years Without Noticing

Over several years it has been detected that HIV/AIDS had been a death sentence to the belief of thousands of people. Thanks to researchers who had made a great and significant efforts to curb the disease short life span and erase the fear from the mindset of people.

Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome {AIDS} is a chronic immune system disease which is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) damages the immune system and challenges the functionalities of the body's ability to fight infection and disease.

HIV can be spread through contact with infected blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. There's no cure for HIV/AIDS, but medications can control the infection and prevent disease progression.

Some people with HIV develop flu-like symptoms 2 to 4 weeks after been infected with the virus. People taking HIV medications may not have other symptoms for years.

As the virus multiplies and destroys immune cells in the body system, symptoms can develop such as fever, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes.

Untreated, HIV typically turns into AIDS in about 8 to 10 years. Still no cure exists for the virus, but medications can control HIV and prevent disease progression. With treatment, most people with HIV in the U.S. don’t develop AIDS.
More than 100 thousand cases per year occur in Nigeria.

Take note of the following
Spreads by sexual contact
Treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured
Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong
Requires a medical diagnosis
Lab tests or imaging always required
HOW HIV/AIDS SPREADS
By blood products (unclean needles or unscreened blood).
By having unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex.
By mother to baby by pregnancy, labor, or nursing.
