Eradicate Those Plumps Under Your Eyes

Tired of being told you look tired? Here’s how to get rid of eye bags, puffiness, dark shadows, and circles.

Puffy eyes:
These are usually caused by various factors ranging from seasonal allergies like cold, a dinner heavy with salty food or a night of crying after watching a scary movie causing morning-after puffiness and water building up under the eyes.

Simple fixes for puffy eyes
Treat Hay fever, Switch your sleep position. People who wake up with puffy eyes are advised to sleep on their back and add an extra pillow under their head. Habits like rubbing your eyes frequently, going to bed with makeup on, and excessive drinking, can contribute to under-eye bags too.

Dark Circles
Dark shadows or eye bags might be something inherited or result of old age.

Simple fixes:
To hide dark circles, a concealer will simply do the magic. Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone and if you have mild discolouration, pick a liquid formula. If your shadows are more prominent, go for more coverage with a cream or cake concealer. Lightly pat the concealer on from the inner corner of your eye to just past the outer corner.

Simple ways to prevent eye bags
•Avoid smoking. Always apply sunscreen around the eye area. Smoking and exposure to UV rays both weaken collagen and cause premature wrinkling and sagging.
•Apply a moisturizer to the eye area every night.
•To calm puffy eyes, place cold spoons, slices of cucumbers, chilled tea bags, or even a package of frozen peas under your eyes. The cool temperatures reduce the swelling.

Other expensive options
Skin lightening creams that contain hydroquinone or kojic acid is a way out. Some people however choose to go further to address sagging skin that creates pouches under their eyes by going for eyelid surgery.
Blepharoplasty is done through incisions made in the eyelid. Fats from the eyelids is usually removed or repositioned or even added depending on what is needed.
