If you can’t enough sleep, don’t worry you’re not alone.
The Center’s for Disease Control released a new study saying nearly nine million U.S. adults use prescription sleeping pills to get to sleep.
The CDC based the study from interviews with about 17,000 adults from 2005 through 2010.
Researchers estimate, nearly 10 percent of Americans suffers chronic insomnia and may seek a physician's help.
The CDC study results confirm some patterns that doctors have been observing for a while.
They include: women are more likely than men to take sleeping pills, five percent versus three percent.
They say more whites take pills, nearly five percent, compared to two-and-a-half percent of blacks and two percent of Hispanics.
Prescription use increases with age, to seven percent of those 80 and older.
Researchers say for adults, the recommended amount of sleep is seven to nine hours each night.
They say at least a third of adults get less than that.
