Thomas Eric Duncan, the first to be diagnosed with Ebola virus in the United States, has died in a Texas hospital.
Duncan was infected in Liberia, probably when he helped transport an infected woman to a clinic. He flew to the United States on 19 September; a week later, he visited the emergency room but was sent home, undiagnosed. He returned 2 days later in an ambulance.
